After such a successful marketing 2014, we’re ready for marketing 2015, but before we begin, let’s talk marketing 2014, just for a moment… As the new year dawns ahead of us, we’d like to reflect back on marketing 2014 and what we did, the marketing campaigns we loved and the trends that inspired us. Marketing 2014 was a fantastic year for us, and here’s why…
January
We kicked off Marketing 2014 in January by sharing our favourite campaigns of 2013. Here at Eat Marketing, we’re big fans of analysing fab food campaigns, and 2013 was another great year for food companies, big and small. Remind yourself of our fave campaigns by reading our Top 5 food campaigns of 2013 blog. You’ll rediscover old campaign favourites such as Marmite’s ‘Love it. Hate it. Just don’t forget it.’ Or McCain’s flavoursome ‘Happy days’ campaign. You may even find ones you have missed!
February
In February, we banished ‘dry January’ blues by talking about cocktails! With a swizzle and a shake, we introduced our exciting collaboration with Mambo Bars, a unique cocktail company that offers clients a full cocktail service anywhere in the country for parties, conferences, weddings and more. Mambo bars needed branding and a fully responsive website that would dazzle and delight potential clients, and, of course, we delivered. Find out what we did and how via our blog.
March
As Spring approached, marketing 2014 went up a gear when we stepped into the first of this year’s food exhibitions for Eat Marketing. We had lots of fun showcasing who we are and what we do at the March NRB show in Manchester alongside Mambo Bars, who were so pleased with our branding, website design and marketing support that we decided on a joint exhibition. The NRB show was a huge success and we met some great people, many of whom we are working with today! Read a little more via our blog – didn’t we look good?
April
The days were definitely getting lighter come April, and with April Fools’ Day fast approaching, we shared some of our favourite food pranks of all time… Do you remember square eggs or a pizza with just the crust? Find all the funniest foody fools here and have a giggle to beat those January blues…
May
We had a lot of fun in May, with the launch of our funky little video. Here at Eat Marketing, we offer our clients everything they need – from branding to website, social media to marketing strategy and support – and we wanted to capture what we can give you in a visual nutshell, which we did! Have another look here.
June
Nobody could escape football fever in June with the 20th World Cup, held in Brazil by FIFA. Big events such as the world cup give food businesses a fantastic opportunity to promote their products with a themed campaign and we wanted to show you how the big brands did it and why they were so good… Remind yourself of the greatest football inspired campaigns for marketing 2014 here.
July
As the sun came out, so did we! Warm July days and nights are perfect for al fresco dining, so we put together a delicious selection of easy to make, light recipes that are perfect for parties, barbeques or simply a sun inspired bite after work! And what’s more, we had another look and they’re ideal for a healthy kick-start this January too!
August
Loom bands we’re all the rage in August. Everywhere you turned, children – and plenty of adults too – were wearing reams of brightly coloured woven bits of elastic on their wrists! But the creations didn’t stop with bracelets – some people took the loom band craze to a whole new level by creating food loom bands. We searched for the weirdest, wackiest ideas and showed you how to make them via handy visual guides… Go, grab your loom bands, make a few of your own and banish those winter blues!
September
September got spicy with the launch of Suhana Spices’ new look and website, created by us here at Eat Marketing. If you like curry and would like to create a true, authentic taste of India in your kitchen with easy to use, natural spices, look no further than Suhana. We’re so proud of our collaboration with Suhana and the look we created for them. Find out how we did it by reading through our spicy blog.
We also did another exhibition in September. This time, we were at Lunch 2014, the contemporary ‘food-to-go’ show that’s perfect for food, drink, packaging and equipment suppliers from the ‘food-to-go’ sector. Again, we met a great number of fantastic people who are passionate about their food business and who wanted to know more about how great marketing such as ours could take their brand even further. Share our highlights here…
October
As the nights drew in and the clocks went forward in October, we stirred our creativity with a nice cup of aromatic coffee from our client, Stokes, purveyors of fine teas and coffee who roast and blend all their own wares. Stokes needed a fabulous new look and website that took into account their online shop and their Lincoln based coffee houses, and we were happy to oblige. The result? A warm, contemporary design with just the right amount of nostalgia that befits a company with such a long, rich history. Read all about our rebrand and redesign for Stokes here and be inspired… Oh and whilst you’re there, remind yourself about one of the biggest marketing 2014 phenomenons – Pop Up Restaurants.
We can’t let any talk of October pass by without mentioning Halloween – after all, it’s what October is all about now, right? We fully embraced the spooky fun of All Hallows’ Eve with our very own Spooky Bake Off as well as a couple of other spine tingling blogs offering recipes and even tips on how to conduct your own Halloween inspired campaign for your food business.
We think we’re quite good at baking – do you agree?
November
We’re really proud of our long-standing relationship with The Bay Fish and Chips and we jumped at the chance to rebrand and redesign their website and packaging during November. As a food business, The Bay has grown considerably in the past few years, and they wanted their branding and communication to reflect not only their growing success and popularity, but also their ethos and their commitment to offering quality, sustainable food that is sourced and cooked with passion. Take a look at what we did and see how great design and communication makes all the difference when it comes to marketing your food business.
Another long-standing partnership that has grown with our help is Protein Pouch. We have worked with them for a while now, creating the look for their brand, their packaging and their website, and in November, we worked with them to help launch their new, extended range of healthy eating products. If you need quick and easy healthy food you can grab on the go, check out their range and find out more about the smooth, clean look we created for them by reading our blog.
December
Important new food allergen labelling changes came into force in December and we wanted to tell you all about them. As a food business, it’s crucial that you keep up to date with any food allergen changes that could affect the way you run your business. Our informative blog is an easy to read guide on the new changes with all the links you need for further information.
We hope you have enjoyed our journey through our marketing 2014 adventures and we also hope you’ll come back for more updates, recipes, tips and campaign write ups in 2015!
We’re really excited about the year ahead; in February we’re doing another exhibition, this time it’s Casual Dining (25-26 February, Business Design Centre, London) alongside one of our clients, Stokes and we’re working on our website for Eat Marketing, so keep a look-out for our revamped site coming this way very soon. And, of course, we have lots of great projects in the pipeline with clients both new and existing and you could be one of them!
