The challenge

The Nook Kiosk opened its doors in early 2026, positioned in the heart of Reading’s business district. Built in a former restaurant cellar space, the owners wanted to completely reposition the building, making it visible to the thousands of office workers passing through. When developing their brand, The Nook decided on three separate revenue streams:

  • The Nook Kiosk - a ground-floor coffee kiosk serving hot, fresh food and coffee to commuters.
  • The Nook Events - an underground private-hire events space for up to 100 people.
  • The Nook Caters - office catering for Reading’s business community, with e-bike delivery expansion planned.

When The Nook approached Eat Marketing, it was with a unique challenge - to build one coherent ‘Nook brand’ containing all three of their hospitality businesses, while giving each offering a strong, standalone identity of its own.

The Nook

Our approach

We were involved with The Nook right from the very beginning, making our contribution much more than just a design project. Starting with a project discovery meeting, we helped the client with naming and positioning for their three sub-brands, narrowing down the different brand identities and positioning they needed.

Developing a solid brand strategy was the foundation of our work. We successfully captured the precise tone of voice needed for each of the client’s distinct services, carefully navigating any potential tension between their different target audiences, before strategising for a phased launch.

Brand identity and sub-branding

The overall brand identity for The Nook as an umbrella had to be quirky, colourful and warm, with a focus on The Nook as Reading’s hidden gem - with specific instructions being ‘not too posh and not too shabby’.  We crafted a full visual identity with this in mind, including a logo, colour palette, typography, brand messaging and tone of voice. This included sub-brand identities for each strand, with Kiosk focusing on speed and quality, Events targeting weddings and corporate functions, and Catering highlighting future e-bike delivery expansion. We created detailed style and asset guides for each strand, keeping the overall ‘Nook’ vibe, but working to differentiate each strand as its own unique business.

Creating a memorable landing page

With three businesses involved, we had to make sure that The Nook’s landing page was easy to navigate and full of relevant information for different target audiences. We built an events enquiry form and catering pre-order/waitlist functionality in the landing page, optimising the copy for SEO to build buzz with Reading locals. Adding a mobile-friendly build ensured that the landing page was perfectly tailored for easy sign-up, meaning that audiences for all Nook sub-brands could stay up to date, and built-in analytics integration fully sets The Nook team up for success post-launch.

Cohesive print and graphic design strategy

To ensure The Nook’s brand was consistently communicated across all physical touchpoints, we provided a full range of print and graphic design services. This included the essential food menu design and A-board promotion, often the first method of attracting a customer’s attention. Additionally, we managed the overall food signage design, including wall graphics inside and outside The Nook, strategically placed to boost foot traffic to the Kiosk. We also contributed to the physical design, producing detailed, AI-generated visuals. These were used to guide the builders, making sure the Kiosk’s construction was accurate and followed The Nook’s brand standards.

Creating buzz online

Our social media brand launch strategy for The Nook was designed to maximise visibility and engagement, especially as a new business. This included a three-month content plan for a social media launch campaign, focusing on building a consistent online presence with four new posts a week - two branded posts and two Reels, posted across Instagram, Facebook and TikTok. On top of organic reach, we incorporated paid social advertising into the content strategy, focused on gaining followers and overall engagement. We worked with the client’s existing contact database to integrate email automation into our online launch strategy, so The Nook could maintain communication with current and new audiences post-launch.

A successful launch campaign

The Nook now holds a clear brand identity that showcases its three standalone offerings, while still having a signature ‘Nook’ tone. The Nook Kiosk’s successful launch reflects just how effective the brand messaging has been, with over 2,300 sessions to the Nook landing page in the first three months alone and keywords already ranking on Google Social.

With over 105,000 Instagram views and 203,000 on Facebook, The Nook is seeing strong digital momentum in both organic and paid search traffic. There has been an influx of micro and local Reading influencers following and promoting The Nook Kiosk, including those with up to 300,000 followers. With influencers already making positive reviews, this offers a great opportunity for future growth and user-generated content for The Nook Caters and The Nook Events when they launch.

Most importantly, The Nook has established itself as one of Reading’s newest hidden gems, with the new landing page driving enquiries and buzz from the start. With email automation and an intuitive landing page, The Nook is now fully prepared to grow and expand their business in Reading, providing services to different sectors with their different sub-businesses.

“Anyone who is in, or looking to enter, the hospitality industry should use this company. Unlike many others, they take time to understand what you're trying to do, buy into it and deliver spectacular results.”
