Lunch 2014… Our Highlights

lunch 2014

Did you come to Lunch? We were at Lunch 2014 last week, Tuesday 23rd September – Wednesday 24th September, and we were so impressed with the vast array of food and drink brands on display, including many innovative ideas that are perfect for today’s modern consumer.

So, what really caught our eye at Lunch 2014? Well, we noticed numerous businesses showcasing popcorn and coconut water and, being the marketing people that we are, we couldn’t help but think about all the marketing tools and strategies they could utilise – no matter how large or small, new or old! Indeed, fresh marketing ideas are beneficial to any business, but when it comes to crowded sectors, it’s even more crucial, especially if a business wants to stand out from the crowd and have the brand that people choose.

Aside from getting very excited about how we would market businesses, we picked our favourite marketing and brand innovators of Lunch 2014, a great mix of new kids on the block and seasoned professionals… Do you agree?

Popcorn Kitchen

Aside from being deliciously moreish and coming in four great flavours (Sweet & Salt, Sweet Chilli, Sea & Olive Oil and Simply Sweet), these popped nibs of corn are naturally wheat, gluten, soya, dairy, nut and GMO free and winners of a Great Taste Gold Star. Their branding stands out too; it is fun, fun, fun, with clean, modern designs in funky colours. The nifty little images zoom across their web pages and all the information is clear and concise.

Bagel and Nash

This company makes…yes, you guessed it – bagels! In fact, they produce a whopping 20 million bagels a year and exports to over 20 countries. We couldn’t help but notice how well they market their product through fantastic photography that makes you want to take a big, big, bite! You can almost taste that soft, yet chewy bagel texture…and the range of toppings that dress the bagels drive taste buds crazy, which is exactly the impression we love to create when we photograph food and drink.

Salty Dog

Great first impressions start as soon as you hear the name of this crisps brand; and it’s an ear-catching, memorable name that represents the quirky nature of this cool company. Bright colours and clever, engaging copy combine perfectly on their website too, which gives crisps connoisseurs everything they need to know about these oh so tasty crisps with added bite!

Divine

We’re a nation of chocolate lovers, which means that many of us are always on the lookout for the next big thing in chocolate. Well, look no further – Divine Chocolate offer indulgent chocolate for those on the go. Everything is Fairtrade and comes in a variety of mouth-watering flavours. Divine are particularly prolific on social media and invite consumers to embark on a chocolate journey with them.

Lunch 2014 also gave us the opportunity to take a look at the latest ‘healthy, on the go’ trailblazers who are pushing ‘eating well’ forward with their fantastic products and ideas. Here’s just a few of our favourites…

Smug Drinks

Take just a sip of these refreshing, fruit flavoured, all-natural health drinks infused with antioxidant rich herbal extracts and B vitamin blends and you’ll feel like a new person! We’ve tried them, and they taste fab, and the informative, bright, light website and communication makes us all feel even better!

Lick Frozen Yoghurt and Pudology

These guilt free desserts – Lick’s frozen yoghurt and Pudology’s range of dairy and gluten free cakes – show that we can have our dessert and eat it! Their branding is very modern, with lots of information that helps us justify, and give in to, our sweet tooth!

Whey Hey

Want sugar free, protein ice cream that tastes amazing? Try Whey Hey for a workout in a tub! This is another happy go lucky, clean looking website that puts you in a good mood with their friendly graphics and joyful images.

Bear/Urban Fruit

Finding healthy snacks for kids on the go is so important but, at times, almost impossible to find. Welcome to Bear – a delectable range of snacks for kids that are so good, you’ll want to try them too!
