fitness marketing plan

2015 is just around the corner… Do you have a marketing plan in place for your food business? Here at Eat Marketing, we’re always thinking ahead and with a new year fast approaching, now is the ideal time to get fighting fit with a marketing plan that will give you the success you need for the year ahead!

To help get you started, we’ve put together our top 5 tips for a marketing plan with finesse. Have a look and take your first marketing fitness steps today:

1. Plan ahead

A good marketing plan takes time to think about. Look at what you want to do and where you want to be; ideally, look 6-12 months ahead. By giving yourself time, you can think about your ideas with ease and create a strategy that is interesting, innovative and that works for your customers, whereas if you leave your marketing plan to the last minute, you’ll feel rushed, unfocused and without a clear idea of what you need to do.

2. Think incentives

Customers love a good incentive to try your food so take the time to really consider what you can offer that will draw people in. Look at giving  prizes through a competition, and take advantage of your social media options (such as Twitter and Facebook) when you are advertising a prize giveaway. If you can, think about holding monthly or even quarterly prizes and tie them in with new product launches where possible too. Using the possibility of winning a prize is fantastic for brand awareness – as well as getting your name out there to as many people as possible.

3. Use the seasons

Tie in any campaigns that you do with the seasons. Think about what the different seasons signify and how you can relate this to your food business. For example, winter is the ideal time to warm up with hot soup, or summer is perfect for relaxing in the sunshine with a refreshing drink and a light, healthy meal. The seasons offer so many opportunities to be adventurous with your marketing and customers will enjoy seeing fresh new ideas that they can relate to.

4. Think about events

Looking at significant dates or occasions is a great way to capture people’s imagination. Of course, there are the more obvious occasions such as Christmas and Easter, Pancake Day, Mother’s Day and Father’s day, but what about using fun or celebratory dates such as Hogmanay, Valentine’s Day, St Patricks Day or even the Queen’s birthday? There’s even a ‘cookie day’ in December! Take a look online for inspiration and even for more obscure days or events – and especially for those events and dates that tie in nicely with your food business.
