Spotlight: The Bay Hub

An award-winning fish and chip shop based in Stonehaven, The Bay Fish and Chips have long been old friends of Eat Marketing, and it’s always a pleasure to work with them on any projects that swing our way – from branding to web design! This time was no different, and with the idea of creating something completely new, we couldn’t wait to start brainstorming ideas and getting creative. Here’s how we got on.

The brief

As an innovative business with a growing number of staff, Calum, the owner of The Bay, came to us looking for advice on creating an online training and support system for his team. Once the name had been decided (The Bay Hub) the aim was to create a central online location where The Bay’s staff induction could take place, and where staff would be able to learn and stay up-to-date with their role and the business.

The project

After exploring all of the options, and discussing what The Bay wanted to cover, we got to work in creating a flat plan for The Hub. This involved nailing down key topics that our Copywriter could work with to create engaging and informative copy. We also worked with Calum to create a quiz, which would be used to put his employees’ new found knowledge to the test.

Once we had the copy perfected, our designers and developers got to work in creating The Hub. The bespoke design was built with The Bay’s brand in mind, but as this is a staff login area within The Bay’s website we were able to introduce a more playful illustration style to ensure the content is inviting and accessible. It was also important to optimise The Hub for all devices, especially with many of The Bay’s younger staff predicted to access The Hub via their smart phones.

The result

The result of all this creativity and hardwork? A paperless system to manage staff training appraisals, and an online employee hub that’s simple to use, and provides all of The Bay’s staff with the information they need to demonstrate great service and serve up amazing food.

I knew there was only one place to go when I came up with the idea. Eat marketing took my idea and raised it to a new level. Giving me peace of mind that it would be completed to the standard I needed and allowing my staff to all sing from the same sheet.
